Project Title: Utilisation of Red Mud in the Cement and Ceramic Industry

We are a group of R&D and Industrial Partners and we investigate the use of Red Mud (RM) for Cement and Ceramics Production.

The building material industries, such as cement and heavy clay ceramics, have the capacity to absorb substantial quantities and afford added value to RM, thus ameliorating the waste management cost and compensating for transportation cost. A case study for Greece demonstrated that RM absorption of 2% for Portland cement production and 15% for heavy clay ceramics production overcomes the RM quantity produced annually.
